Christian Aid Week 15th -21st May 16

Once again Christian Aid week is approaching. Christian Aid involves itself with the world’s poorest communities, regardless of race, politics or religion and people in the third world rely on our continued help.  If you want to get involved in what is a rewarding community exercise please contact us via the website contact form.

An example of people Christian Aid has helped is shown below:

Morsheda lives on a low-lying island on the Brahmaputra river in Bangladesh. She is a young mother of four. Her husband has left. She has little land, few assets, and no savings.

EMBARGOED FOR USE IN CAW 2016 Morsheda was eight years old when she was married. At fourteen, while pregnant with her first child, her husband left her and married another woman. Now aged between 25 and 30, Morsheda cares for her children alone. Over the years, she has been flooded out of her home several times as the mighty river around her rises. She now lives in the Bazetilcupi Char and works, where and when she can, as a daily labourer, for as little as 74 pence a day. In April and August this year, as the river flooded over the bank and into the Char, part of Morsheda’s home was flooded. With no assets and four children to care for, Morsheda told me ‘I don’t even dream that things could be better.’ It is anticipated that Morsheda will be supported through GUK’s work in the spring of 2016.
