Junior Church Safari
On Sunday 27th November our Junior Church, together with Second Olton (St Margarets) Brownies and Fourth Olton Rainbows went on Safari!
We met at the Church at around 9-15 for a breakfast treat of bacon rolls, thanks Jackie & Graham; then 82 of us boarded two coaches bound for Worcestershire. We arrived at the Safari Park for 11-00 and were then enticed to sample mulled wine, coffee (or squash) and a mince pie. Following the plethora of refreshments we took a ride on Santa’s vacillating sleigh before making a call at the North Pole.
Next stop was the Sealion show, followed in our group, by the Reptile House, the Land of the Dinosaurs and the free flying bats. We then regrouped by the coaches for the Safari which took us across the African Plains. Having witnessed some rather animated Rhinos we moved towards the relative sanctuary of the wild dog reserve, thence past the immobile Giraffes before returning to the car park. More refreshments were had, thanks Graham, before retuning at 4-45 to St Margarets.
What a wonderful day of fellowship, giving the chance to make new friends and get to know people. We were back just in time for the Churches together in Olton service at 6-00 PM, followed by more refreshments…
A fabulous end to a busy weekend following Saturday’s Fayre.
A big thanks to those who organised this trip for kids big and small!
