Increase in personal allowance!
The personal allowance tax threshold is expected to rise to £11,500 in April this year.
If you currently give to St Margaret’s and have a gift aid declaration in place, please check that this is still appropriate. This increase in the personal allowance plus the new savings and dividend allowances, has taken many people out of paying tax at all, meaning that they must withdraw their gift aid declarations. Please note that if you do make donations under the gift aid scheme and you have not paid enough tax in the year to cover the claim the church makes on your donation, HMRC may contact you, as you will be liable to pay the money back. If you have any queries or need to withdraw your gift aid declaration, please speak to Tony Veal.
